Visiting a fishing village to taste ocean flavours

Ha Loc Village is among the earliest in the region in the development of tourism services. The fishing village lies quietly beneath coconut trees, with most homestays renovated from the simple and weathered houses of fishermen. Everything is small but clean, from the roads, shops, communal halls, and cultural houses to the sandy beach before the vast blue ocean. A stroll around the village in the afternoon offers a chest full of sea breeze and beautiful photos. Swimming and paddleboarding at the sandy beach with gentle waves are also appealing activities suitable for most people.

Tam Tien is also famous for its fish market that opens by the beach before dawn, a feature of the fishing village that has existed for 15 years and has now become a “magnet” for adventure-seeking tourists. To not miss the impressive moments, visitors should wake up at 4 AM and head to the beach. The sky is still dark, and the Tam Tien fish market appears in the glow of flashlights and headlights, buzzing with laughter and conversation. As dawn breaks, the horizon turns pink, and when the sun rises, boats fill the beach. People paddle round boats, anchor ships, carry baskets, and sort fish in a bustling yet orderly manner. By around 6 AM, most fish catches are already sold and shipped off to various places. At this time, tourists can take a leisurely stroll, enjoying the morning nature. Those who manage to buy fish or squid as desired should take them to small huts along the beach for the owners to prepare delicious fresh breakfasts with enticing dishes like shrimp pancakes, squid noodles, and fish porridge.

As the end of the summer tourist season approaches, Tam Tien beach is less crowded and lively, yet it still offers plenty of interesting experiences tied to the cultural atmosphere of fishing villages, such as enjoying local cuisine, snorkelling to see coral reefs, squid fishing, and visiting traditional crafts like fish sauce making, boat building, and net weaving. Just be mindful of avoiding stormy weather, and I believe everyone will have an enjoyable trip to this beautiful fishing village.
