Winners of Golden Kite Awards 2024 honoured

The Vietnam Cinema Association (VCA) held a ceremony in Nha Trang City, in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, on September 10 to honour the winners of the Golden Kite Awards 2024.

At the ceremony, the organising board presented Golden Kite and Silver Kite Awards and certificates of merit to the best entries of categories of featured movies, TV series, documentaries, scientific films, animated movies, short films, and theoretical and critical works.

'Mai' directed by Tran Thanh won Best Feature Film, while 'Vi sao Son Doong' (Why Son Doong), directed by Tai Van, was named the Best Scientific Film.

'Linh Anh' by Nguyen Van Quyet was awarded the Best Documentary, and 'Hai Muoi' by Nguyen Thanh Vinh was honoured as the Best Debut Film.

'Nhu la thu phap' (Calligraphy) by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Ngoc Thanh, former Principal of the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City won the award for research on film theory and criticism.

The best leading and supporting actors and actresses, directors, cameramen, scriptwriters, and music producers were also awarded on the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, VAC President Do Lenh Hung Tu said that this year's event recorded the highest number of entries to date, which proves the increasing reputation of the Golden Kite Awards.

He reported that a total of 163 cinematic works were submitted, including 18 featured movies, 18 TV series, 41 documentaries, 18 scientific films, 14 animated movies, 50 short films, and 4 theoretical and critical works.

For his part, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan stressed that the Golden Kite Awards is not only a festival for those working in the film industry but also an opportunity to review the development of Vietnamese cinema and honour the outstanding talents from the past year.

He also noted with pleasure that it is the third time Nha Trang City has hosted the event, following the successful editions in 2022 and 2023, which affirms that Nha Trang is an interesting venue for prestigious cultural and tourism events.
