Dai Ngai 1 Bridge is part of a project that includes two main bridges linking the two provinces of Tra Vinh and Soc Trang over the Hau River, a distributary of the Mekong River.

The entire project has a total length of 15 kilometres, starting from an intersection with National Highway 54 in Tra Vinh Province and ending at an intersection with National Highway 91B in Soc Trang Province.

Comprising Dai Ngai 1 Bridge and Dai Ngai 2 Bridge, featuring four lanes, the project costs an estimated 7.962 trillion VND (313.76 million USD), financed by the state budget.

The package of Dai Ngai 1 Bridge and its approach roads has a total value of 3.907 trillion VND (153.94 million USD).

Dai Ngai 1 Bridge is a 3-kilometre-long cable-stayed bridge over the Dinh An branch of the Hau River, with the tower's highest point at 110 metres from the bridge deck.

The bridge is scheduled for completion in June 2028.

Once the entire Dai Ngai Bridges are completed, the travel distance between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Ca Mau, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu will be shortened by 80 kilometres.
