The 518-metre-long and 20.5-metre-wide bridge was completed after nearly two years of construction and costs 650 billion VND (26.7 million USD).
Gioi Phien Bridge is located between Tuan Quan Bridge and Van Phu Bridge, both spanning the Red River.
According to Yen Bai Chairman Tran Huy Tuan, Gioi Phien Bridge is particularly important to the province as it is expected to help bolster the province’s socio-economic development.
He spoke highly of the efforts of contractors, engineers and workers as they completed the bridge nearly three months ahead of schedule.
On the occasion, the provincial authorities presented certificates of merit to those with excellent performance during the bridge construction and gifts to 15 households who gave their land for the project.
