The majority of tourists visited Laos in May and June after the country re-opened international travel on May 9, as data from the Laos Tourism Development Department showed.
Since then the country has welcomed over 35,000 visitors, whose average stay was 7-9 days and daily spending was 83 USD.
Affirming the appeal of the World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang, chairwoman of the Luang Prabang Hotel Association Toun Sisouphanthavong expressed her optimism about the recovery of Laos’s tourism sector in the future.
However, it will take time for the sector to fully recover, said Toun Sisouphanthavong, adding that enterprises need to recruit new employees and reopen essential services to prepare for a coming boom.
