Wushu artist clinches second gold for Vietnam

Nhan Dan Online – Wushu martial artist Hoang Thi Phuong Giang added another gold to Vietnam's medal collection at the ongoing 27th SEA Games in Myanmar by earning the highest score in the women's Changquan event this morning.

Giang garnered 9.68 points for her masterful performance, 0.08 points ahead of the Singaporean silver medalist Yan Ni Tan, and 0.09 points higher than the bronze medal winner, Thalia Lovita of Indonesia.

It is the first SEA Games gold medal in Giang's career since she took up the sport in 2004.

Giang's teammate, Duong Thuy Vi, who secured the first gold for Vietnam in the women's Jianshu (sword) yesterday, finished in fifth place in the Changquan discipline with 9.49 points.

Male Vietnamese Wushu artists were not as successful in today's competition, with Quoc Khanh finishing fourth in the Nanquan event (9.66 points) and Xuan Hiep taking eighth position in the Gunshu discipline (9.14 points).
