Promient among them is the project on Vietnamese Youth accompanying children and youth in border areas for the 2025-2030 period.
One morning in late November, when the dawn had just spread over the mountain slopes, a special gift was waiting for the students of Na Sang Primary School (Na Sang Commune, Dien Bien Province). In the corner of the school yard, a large chess board was neatly arranged with strange chess pieces. When asked, most students and many teachers said they had never seen a chess board and chess pieces of such a large size.
Different from the familiar image of chess games taking place on tables and chairs, mobile chess is a type of sport that requires strategic thinking, concentration and physical flexibility. Therefore, the chess games that took place immediately after became exciting and interesting moments of “learning while playing, playing while learning” with a series of new experiences.
The image of highland students dressed in colourful brocade clothes, enthusiastically learning the rules of the game, enthusiastically debating each move, running really fast to move the chess pieces... became a vivid picture.
With the message “The talents and aspirations of Vietnamese children are never limited by geography”, the chess experience activity is part of the “Journey to accompany border students”, under the Project “Vietnamese youth accompany children in border areas for the 2025-2030 period”, launched by the Central Youth Union on November 21 in Na Sang commune (Dien Bien Province).
According to Bui Quang Huy, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Project is a strong and steadfast commitment of the youth of the whole country towards the borderland of the Fatherland.
“Each border resident is a national border marker and the Project is a way for the young generation to join hands to build, protect and light up those “living markers” with knowledge, voluntary actions and all sincere feelings. From Dien Bien, the Journey in particular and the Project in general will spread to 248 border communes, lighting up faith, cultivating knowledge and fostering the will to rise up for young people in border areas”, said Huy.
According to the plan, in the next five years, the Youth Union at all levels will simultaneously deploy the Project with the following contents: Building a comprehensive orientation, supporting each border commune with at least two economic development models associated with the potential and strengths of the locality; accompanying children and teenagers in digital transformation, accessing digital knowledge and applying technology, thereby launching the movement “Digital Youth for Digital Borders”; regularly deploying volunteer activities for the community in border communes; accompanying children and youth in border areas in studying, comprehensive development, career orientation and participating in preserving and promoting national cultural identity.
In order for the Project to soon come into practice, with depth and effectiveness, the Central Youth Union has suggested five solutions, or can be called “keywords” for the provincial, municipal and affiliated Youth Unions to focus on concretising: Close and synchronous coordination; sustainable companionship, responsible twinning; strong social mobilisation; promoting digital transformation; following the motto “safety – discipline – efficiency”.
More attention will be paid to developing the Project quickly, associated with strongly promoting the effectiveness of many activities accompanying children and youth in border areas that are currently operating such as “March Border”, “Spring Border – Island Tet”, “Lighting up the Border”...
It is believed that the “Vietnamese Youth Accompanying Children and Youth in Border Areas in the 2025–2030 Period” Project will become a “milestone” starting the solidarity, spirit of sharing, and responsibility of today's young generation towards their homeland and country.
