Volunteer green shirts
On Sunday morning, the Thanh An Commune Cultural and Sports Center became more vibrant with songs about volunteer youth. Immediately after the summer campaign launch ceremony, young people from units and schools in the city simultaneously carried out many meaningful and practical tasks. The series of activities began with the inauguration of the "Volunteer green light" youth project at Squadron 2, City Border Guard. This is a project that young people have coordinated with units to construct for many days to contribute to ensuring security and safety in the coastal border area, serving daily life and night patrols. Next, the youth volunteers will complete practical projects such as: Inauguration of a volleyball court for local youth and children; a playground with many toy models and entertainment equipment for children on the island; continuing to accompany the commune government, volunteers will open training courses on the topic "Youth pioneers in digital transformation and fraud prevention in the digital environment" for local youth union members and children; training in safety skills and basic first aid for secondary and high school students.
During the volunteer journey in Phu Quy special zone, Lam Dong province, a special activity took place which was the Party admission ceremony for outstanding students. On this occasion, student Nguyen Tran Minh Thu, Faculty of Economic Law, University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City National University, was moved: “Being admitted to the Party in the midst of a volunteer campaign, where we can devote our youth to the community, is a special mark, showing the recognition of the Party organization for our continuous training and striving. We vow to continue to train and contribute to serving and spreading the good values of youth to society”.
Building sustainable values
Also this summer, quietly in small rooms, the story of “Continuing the future” will be spread to many locations. This is one of the main activities of the Green Shirt Tutor program implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Volunteer Campaign Command for many years. With the goal of organizing a children's playground “Dreams for children”; training on self-protection skills for children and especially summer classes to bring knowledge, love and sharing to students in difficult circumstances.
In order for volunteer activities to achieve specific and sustainable results, in 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union encourages units to maintain activities in traditional areas. In particular, units that have just deployed teams in new areas in 2024 need to continue summer volunteer activities in 2025. The focus is on participating in building new rural areas, urban civilization, ensuring security, order, traffic safety and environmental protection; implementing the movement "Digital education for the people" and volunteer activities, pioneering in "Digital transformation"; towards the borders, seas, and islands of the fatherland;
Some basic targets of the 2025 summer volunteer activities are: Organizing 150 volunteer teams "Accompanying the locality" with 37,000 volunteer hours to support units in residential areas to archive, digitize records, and arrange headquarters to serve the organization of the apparatus; guiding and supporting people and businesses to carry out administrative procedures; maintaining 300 "Digital education for the people" teams; building at least 30 civilized roads and alleys with the criteria of "bright-green-clean-beautiful-civilized-safe"; renovating, upgrading, and concretizing 20 km of roads and alleys; planting at least 50,000 trees; supporting the connection and realization of 1,200 ideas and initiatives in various fields of union members and youth; career and employment counseling for at least 50,000 union members and young people.
Participating in the summer campaign launch ceremony with the city's youth, recently, Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee’s Commission on Popularization and Mass Mobilization, highly appreciated the effectiveness of the projects and tasks that the youth have created for society, especially in localities that still face many difficulties. This is something that the city's youth need to promote and be more creative in order to accompany the development of the localities. In the context of many localities having just merged and rearranged administrative boundaries, the activities of the youth also need to have changes, be more flexible and creative to be more suitable to reality.
