In his speech at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh underlined the significant contributions of senior citizens in the country’s history.

Citing Uncle Ho, Binh said that senior citizens are a valuable asset, an important force and a pillar of Vietnamese families and society.

This year’s theme of taking care of the elderly and promoting their role is highly relevant as Vietnam is a rapidly ageing country and senior citizens account for a larger part of the population.

Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Do Van Chien highlighted the role of senior citizens as the firm support for each family, clan and society as a whole.

He stated that the Party, State and entire society always take profound care of the elderly in both material and mental aspects.

On the occasion, the front leader visited several outstanding people of advanced age and disadvantaged senior citizens in Ha Tinh City and Thach Ha District.
