In 2023, one of the most prominent charity projects of rapper Den Vau, the stage name of Nguyen Duc Cuong, is the release of his music video (MV) entitled ‘Nau An Cho Em’ (Cooking for Children) and his live show named ‘Den’s Show’.

‘Nau An Cho Em’ was made during Den and his team’s visit to children at Sa Tong Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities in Muong Cha District, Dien Bien Province.

The MV tells a sincere story of about the journey of children in a remote area going to school. Most of the scenes in the MV feature the children’s activities at school and in their daily lives, as well as their joy upon receiving gifts from Den and his team, such as teddy bears, hair ties, and footballs. The MV also highlights beautiful scenes of the Northwest mountainous region.

Notably, during the making of the MV, Den Vau also cooked meals and played with the children.

The song’s lyric is simple, easy-to-listen like a gently whisper of a daily story, but it has touched the hearts of the listener. The MV also features the voices of young artist Pia Linh as well as the innocent children at the school.

After only 5 days of release, ‘Nau An Cho Em’ reached No. 1 Trending position of YouTube channel with more than 5 million views. Many viewers expressed their appreciation and emotions when they learned that Den Vau will donate all profits from the MV views for a project to support mountainous children at boarding schools for ethnic minority students.

Since the MV’s release, about 4,000 children have received financial support.

Following the MV, Den Vau hold a live show in Hanoi on May 27. Not only featuring his popular songs remixed in a new way, Den Vau also brought 16 children in Dien Bien who had participated in his MV ‘Nau An Cho Em’ to the stage.

At the end of the show, Den Vau announced to donate 500 million VND to ‘Nuoi Em’, a project aiming to help children in schools in remote and disadvantaged areas have a proper lunch and improve the facilities of their schools.

This is not the only charity project of Den Vau, before that, he and singer Ha Anh Tuan spent 500 million to fund ‘Nhu Chia He Co Cuoc Chia Ly’ (As if we were never apart), a TV programme which helps to reunite long-lost families, shortly after the organisers announced that they would have to stop the programme due to lack of funds.

Ha Anh Tuan is also an artist who has actively engaged in charity projects.

In 2020 when the whole country was straining against the COVID-19 pandemic, Ha Anh Tuan is one of the first artists to donate pandemic prevention equipment, including three negative-pressure isolation rooms in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Ninh province. He supported 500 million VND for the Vaccine Fund.

Ha Anh Tuan also pays attention to other social activities, including afforestation. In October 2019, he launched an afforestation project with the goal of planting additional trees to help regenerate the forest ecosystem in Lam Dong Province.

He also went to Lac Duong District (Lam Dong Province) and Son Tra District (Da Nang City) to plant trees with rangers and local people.

In October 2021, he commenced the project ‘Choi Viet Nam’ (Vietnam’s Buds) to take care of the health of children living in difficult circumstances.

Another prominent name who is appreciated for acts of charity is pop star My Tam.

On April 8, she released the documentary film ‘Nguoi Giu Thoi Gian - Tri Am ( The Time Keeper), sharing about her inspiration for a musical career. Although the film was only shown at cinemas for a very short time, only 9 days, it attracted 140,000 cinemagoers, and earned 12 billion VND.

The singer then announced that all the proceeds from the film will be spent to support poor students. The information was revealed after the show time of the film, because Tam did not want people to watch it for charity purposes.

Previously, My Tam has participated in many charity activities, such as supporting the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, presenting scholarships to students, and delivering gifts to the poor.

My Tam, Ha Anh Tuan and Den Vau have shown one thing in common when doing charity projects as all of them engage in this work with all of their hearts by their own financial efforts. Their projects also target children through sustainable, long-term, and practical activities.

It is heartening that more and more Vietnamese artists have participating in charity work, served the society, not because of their own reputation, but with the desire to bring better things to the community. They have inspired and spread kindness with their talents and their hearts.
