Australia advances leadership for Vietnamese women

The Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) has just announced the fifth Women in Leadership Journey 2023.

The course was co-organised by Curtin University (Australia) and the Centre for Gender Studies and Women's Leadership (GeLead), Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA).

"Women in Leadership Journey" is a short-term scholarship for Vietnam, funded by the Australian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), within the VAC.

The course aims to promote gender equality and empower and support women in leadership, contributing to improving the capacity and skills of Vietnam's human resources.

Specifically, the goal of the course is to equip women leaders in the State apparatus and the public sector in Vietnam, with structured knowledge, information, and tools to facilitate their efforts.

Through the course, students will be allowed to improve their leadership skills, expand their network, and increase their knowledge and awareness of gender equality, as well as leadership skills, contributing to increased representation of women in leadership and decision-making positions, at all levels.

Cherie Russell, Development Counsellor, Australian Embassy shared, that 20 students will participate in the 5th Women in Leadership Journey 2023.

“Women in Leadership Journey” has been running since 2017.

The programme's priority is to increase the representation of women in organisations and institutions, influencing decision-making in the political and public sectors.

The 84 female leaders who are alumni of the course are continuing to contribute and promote activities on gender equality and enhancing the role of women in leadership.

This is a key training course organised by the VAC, to combine the expertise of Australian and Vietnamese experts, to support the development of human resources in the public sector of Vietnam.

According to the VAC, the opening ceremony of the course is one of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Australia - Vietnam diplomatic relations (February 26, 1973- 2023).
