The seminar was organised within the framework of the Ha Noi Book and Reading Culture Fair 2026 — an event that brought together many publishing and distribution units along with experts in the publishing and technology fields. This was also one of the meaningful activities to celebrate the 5th Viet Nam Book and Reading Culture Day, taking place from April 21-27.
In recent years, digital transformation is no longer an option, but an inevitable trend in the publishing industry worldwide. However, this transformation process does not stop at digitising content or developing ebooks but also involves a comprehensive restructuring of publishing activities from editing and production to distribution.
According to Le Duy Nam, CEO of Book Hunter, digital transformation in the book industry is not just about applying science and technology to digitise content or switch publishing platforms, it also requires changing the working environment and mindset of publishing industry personnel.
Nam added that Book Hunter’s “cloud office” operating model is a new direction in the digital transformation process, optimising remote work efficiency based on the transfer of responsibilities and individual results of each employee.
Discussing the role of translators in the digital age, Nguyen Linh Nga, CEO of the Consen.AI project, stated that, in practice, the application of artificial intelligence in translation in the publishing industry is no longer new and is becoming increasingly common.
Using technology in the translation and editing process has replaced many technical steps, freeing up labour for translators and editors and allowing them to focus more on refining their translated works. However, the core value of a translator still lies in their ability to choose words, interpret, and preserve the spirit and meaning of the text, Nga emphasised.
