Construction commences on rural bridge in Soc Trang

A groundbreaking ceremony for a solid concrete bridge was held in Phu Thuan Hamlet, Thanh Phu Commune, My Xuyen District, Soc Trang Province on June 18.

According to the design, the bridge has a length of more than 25m, a width of 3m, and a load of 3.5 tonnes, and is built with a solid reinforced concrete structure, connecting the inter-hamlet rural traffic route.

Work is expected to be completed in two months, with a total cost of 135 million VND.

The fund was mobilised by Nhan Dan Newspaper, with the sponsorship of Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company and the contribution of local people.

Thanh Phu Commune has 14 hamlets and is a commune with a large population of Khmer ethnic people.

The entire commune has 6,290 households with 27,768 people (of which, the Kinh ethnic group has 11,381 people, accounting for 40.99%; Khmer, 16,020 people, 57.69% and Chinese, 367 people, 1.32%). The local economic development is mainly based on agricultural production and aquaculture.
