Fourteen monuments to be ranked as special national sites

The Vietnam National Cultural Heritage Council has agreed to propose classification of Special National Monument in 2016 for 14 relics.

Under the set process, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selects the relics with typical featured values and co-ordinates with relevant local authorities to make profiles on each site to send to the Council for consultation. After obtaining the Council’s consent, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will send the dossiers to the Prime Minister for consideration.

Among 14 sites proposed as Special National Monuments in 2016, there are three in Hanoi, including Kim Lien Temple in Quang An ward, Tay Ho district, Dau Temple in Nguyen Trai commune, Thuong Tin district, and monument house No. 48 Hang Ngang street, Hang Dao ward, Hoan Kiem district.

The nine remaining relics include: Historical tombs and shrines of Tran Dynasty in Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province; historic area of Tay Son Temple, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province; historic area of Rach Gam - Xoai Mut in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province; historical relic of Son La prison in Son La city, Son La province; Phu Quoc prison historic site in Phu Quoc district, Kien Giang province; Vinh Moc tunnel and Vinh Linh village tunnel system in Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province; Ba Trieu (Lady Trieu) historic and architectural relic in Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province; Pho Hien historic and architectural relic in Hung Yen city, Hung Yen province; and Cat Tien archaeological site in Cat Tien district, Lam Dong province.

There have been 3,231 monuments recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as National Monuments. Among them, there are 48 ones ranked as special national relics by the Prime Minister.
