The “Agent Orange – Conscience and Justice” exhibition concluded in Da Nang on August 20. It was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, the Chemical Corps and the Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Opened at the Da Nang Museum on July 22, the exhibition featured more than 400 photographs, documents and artefacts across six thematic sections. They portrayed the devastating consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin, as well as efforts by the Party and State, localities and international organisations to address the legacy of war, care for victims and pursue justice.

More than 12,000 visits were recorded from July 22 to August 19, including groups of pupils and students, officials and employees from agencies and schools, military and police personnel, youth union members, veterans, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and foreign visitors.

Alongside the exhibition, local agencies and associations mobilised more than 1.4 billion VND (53,600 USD) to support victims and their families. The funding included assistance to build seven houses, 138 gifts and three livelihood support packages for three affected families in Da Nang. Local authorities, veterans’ organisations and military units also contributed construction materials and labour.

The city-level association separately mobilised 697 million VND (26,700 USD) to support victims.

Organisers said the exhibition was the most successful of the recent “Agent Orange – Conscience and Justice” exhibitions held in localities, both in terms of visitor numbers and funds mobilised to support victims.
