Da Nang: More COVID-19 patients discharged from hospital

Eight more COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital in Da Nang city on May 31, following their full recovery after receiving treatment at the Da Nang Lung Hospital and Hoa Vang District Medical Centre.

Accordingly, both facilities discharged four each this morning, all having tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 three times in a row.

They will be put under home isolation for the next 14 days in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Da Nang Lung Hospital is currently treating seven children with COVID-19, including a 6-month baby, all of whom are in stable health.

Doctors at the hospital have presented gifts to paediatric COVID-19 patients to encourage them on the upcoming occasion of Children's Day (June 1).

The latest recoveries bring the total discharged to 2,950 so far, while the death toll remains at 47.

Sixty-eight new locally-transmitted cases were detected as of this noon, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

Of the infections, 48 were detected in Bac Giang, 12 in Hanoi, four in Bac Ninh, two in Long An, one in Dak Lak and one in Da Nang. All the patients were in quarantine or locked down areas.

As of 12 pm on May 31, Vietnam had documented a total of 5,733 domestic infections, with 4,163 cases since the latest outbreak hit the country on April 27.

Among the active patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments nationwide, 145 have tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 66 twice and 70 thrice.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh inspected epidemic prevention and control measures at Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, during which he emphasised the need to ensure the safety of workers.

Binh urged Ho Chi Minh City in general, as well as export processing zones and industrial parks in particular, to urgently apply drastic and strong measures in a creative way and in line with the epidemic situation as it stands.

Also on the morning of the same day, the deputy PM visited and checked preparation work for an isolation camp located in the dormitory of ​​the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City branch.

Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son said that his ministry is ready for an additional 1,000 health workers to support Bac Giang province in its vaccination campaign and in the collecting samples for COVID-19 testing.

Priority vaccination subjects are local workers at production units and those working outside industrial zones. In addition, Bac Giang will also give priority to businesses preparing to resume production.

In order to quickly complete the goal of injecting all 150,000 doses of vaccine within a week, Deputy Minister Son suggested Bac Giang develop a vaccination plan with detailed vaccination sites and the human resources to ensure both effectiveness and progress.

Also today, the provinces of Bac Kan, Phu Tho and Thua Thien Hue sent more medical staff to Bac Ninh and Bac Giang to support the two COVID-19 hotbeds in fighting the pandemic.
