The delegation included President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco; IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong; President of the IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians Daniel Carden; and Secretary General of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahmanm; along with more than 300 young parliamentarians and delegates from 75 IPU member parliaments, and representatives of international organisations.
From the Vietnamese side, the event was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Quang Phuong, Chairman of the NA’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the Young NA Deputies’ Group Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Tuong Lam.
In his welcoming speech, Standing Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phuong briefed the guests on the potentials and advantages of Quang Ninh Province, especially in tourism.
He updated them with pleasure that Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago in Quang Ninh Province and neighbouring Hai Phong City was recently officially recognised as a world natural heritage by UNESCO.
For his part, IPU President Duarte Pacheco expressed his joy to visit Quang Ninh, and conveyed his thanks for the warm welcome of the provincial authorities and its people to the delegation.
During the visit, the delegates expressed their impressions on the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay as well as the hospitality of local people.
