Dien Bien Airport receives over 900 flights in four months since resumption

Dien Bien Airport, in the Northern province of Dien Bien, has welcomed more than 900 flights with increasing numbers of passengers in the four months since reopening operations.

According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), since being upgraded, the airport is now capable of handling large aircraft such as Airbus A320 and A321.

The ACV statistics show that the number of tourists to and from Dien Bien Province has soared steadily. The airport has received 69,900 passengers during the past four months.

Two domestic airlines operating flights to and from Dien Bien, namely Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, have increased the total number of flights to 42 per week to meet growing demand this summer.

In particular, Dien Bien Province will host the National Tourism Year 2024 and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, which are anticipated to attract a large influx of tourists.

Dien Bien Province also expects to receive a total of 2 million visitors in 2025.
