Dien Bien locals actively join blood donation drive

The 11th blood donation campaign named “Red Journey” and a ceremony to honour outstanding voluntary blood donors in 2023 was officially held at the Dien Bien Province’s Conference and Cultural Centre on July 18, attracting over 400 registered blood donors and expecting to receive more than 200 blood units.

“Red Journey” is a national-scale blood donation campaign that has spread the humanitarian spirit among community. Dien Bien Province has held the campaign five times, aiming to raise public awareness of voluntary blood donation, mobilise and organise blood reception, increase the frequency of blood donation as well as honour blood donors who have made great contributions to this campaign.

The programme also promotes the spirit of humanitarianism towards saving lives and handling blood shortages during the summer.

According toVice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Vu A Bang, in the first six months of 2023, nearly 3,000 people joined the blood donation drives with more than 2,600 blood units collected. Many groups and individuals have donated blood multiple times and mobilised their friends and relatives to participate.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Red Cross and the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to groups and individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions to voluntary blood donation drives throughout the province.
