The exhibition features over 100 posters, photographs, artifacts and films illustrating the formation and development of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, one of the last traditional trading centres in Southeast Asia.

Despite its small size, the quarter is a convergence of the typical characteristics of Vietnam’s urban culture. In the mix of Hanoi's rapid urban development, it remains an economic and culture centre, as well as one of the most famous attractions in the capital city.

The event is part of a co-operation programme, already more than 20 years old, between Hanoi and the French city of Toulouse on conservation, restoration and promotion of the intangible values of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

Not only targeting visitors, the exhibition also serves local people to help them be aware of the beauty and value of the Old Quarter, in addition to providing a better understanding of the area’s history and development for the community to make objective assessments on restoration projects.
