The 24 exhibits on display include pages from books and pictures that are arranged into three parts reviewing the life journey of the emperor from being an Emperor who came to the throne at only eight years old, turning into an anti-French exiled Emperor, and then became a resistance fighter.

The exhibits were extracted from the book penned by Claude Vinh San (alias Prince Nguyen Phuoc Bao Vang), the third son of Emperor Duy Tan, to provide viewers with closer look into the eventful life of the patriotic Emperor.

Although the reign of Emperor Duy Tan lasted only one decade (1907 – 1916), it saw many historical events associated to the national liberation. In 1916, Emperor Duy Tan discretely planned a rebellion against the French colonial administration. The plan failed, with Duy Tan being deposed and exiled to Reunion island in the Indian Ocean.

However, he continued to favor national liberation for Vietnam in exile. He died in 1945 in a plane crash in Central Africa on the way to return to Vietnam. His ashes were interred in the Central African Republic until 1987 when his ashes were brought home to Vietnam to rest in peace in Hue city.
