Speaking at the closing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee and Head of the DIFF 2026 Organising Committee, said that this year's festival had taken audiences on an emotional journey through the themes of nature, heritage, culture, innovation, and vision, which shaped each competition night.
She emphasised that Da Nang is proud of its civilised, friendly, and hospitable people, who are always ready to support and assist visitors. Their warmth and generosity have played an important role in making DIFF 2026 a safe, well-organised, welcoming, and memorable festival.
The final featured a spectacular showdown between Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd. of China and Macedos Pirotecnia of Portugal. Portugal's team drew on its renowned approach to storytelling through fireworks to bring the final night's theme vividly to life.
The Portuguese display blended music and pyrotechnics seamlessly, taking spectators on an emotional journey from quiet reflection to moments of exhilaration.
Combining cascading waterfalls of light, comet effects, spherical fireworks, candle fireworks, fountains, and a succession of signature pyrotechnic effects, Portugal delivered an extraordinary visual spectacle that fully captured the spirit of global connectivity embodied in the final's theme.
The Chinese team also interpreted the theme through an impressive array of pyrotechnic effects choreographed to a contemporary soundtrack featuring internationally renowned songs, including three Vietnamese pieces.
China's display guided audiences on a journey through the vibrant, youthful spirit of Da Nang, expressed through the language of light and music.
A succession of dynamic fireworks sequences combined with sophisticated multi-layer firing techniques and striking images of Da Nang's iconic bridges illuminated across the night sky created a memorable visual signature.
China's spectacular performance delivered moments of excitement and emotional resonance while successfully conveying the global spirit of connection in the grand finale.
In recognition of its breathtaking display, original artistic concept and exceptional technical precision, the organising committee awarded the DIFF 2026 championship trophy and certificate to the Portuguese team. The Chinese team received the runner-up award.
Other honours included the presentation of the Creativity Award to Italy, the Promising Team Award to Japan, and the Audience Award to Da Nang (Viet Nam).
