The exhibition features 60 works selected from thousands of newly acquired pieces, introducing art lovers to the museum's latest additions. The exhibited works demonstrate remarkable diversity in artistic media, subject matter and modes of expression, reflecting the rich diversity and continuous evolution of Viet Nam's contemporary art scene in recent years.
The exhibition is the result of a decade of collecting and research, supported by the State budget as well as donations and transfers from organisations and individuals both in Viet Nam and abroad. All acquisitions were selected in accordance with established criteria and State regulations governing collections for public museums.
According to Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Viet Nam National Museum of Fine Arts, the museum has grown from modest beginnings to develop a rich collection comprising tens of thousands of valuable artefacts that comprehensively document the development of Vietnamese fine arts from traditional to modern periods, including 9 national treasures.
“The paintings, sculptures, applied art works and other collections preserved here possess not only outstanding artistic value but also serve as invaluable historical and cultural testimonies, making an important contribution to the preservation of Viet Nam's cultural identity,” Minh said.
The exhibition is one of the museum’s most significant professional events. It reflects the dedication of the museum's curatorial team and highlights notable achievements in collecting, preserving and promoting the value of fine art collections.
The exhibition also demonstrates the museum's timely engagement with the evolving artistic landscape, providing a comprehensive record of an important period in the development of contemporary Vietnamese art.
