At Terminal T2, Noi Bai International Airport has officially put into operation dedicated immigration and emigration processing lanes for Vietnamese citizens. This solution is in line with the common trend at many major airports around the world, helping optimise passenger flows and ease pressure on control areas during peak hours.
The separation of dedicated lanes has received broad support from passengers, as it gradually addresses the congestion and long queues seen in recent times. According to actual observations, passenger processing time has been significantly shortened since the measure was introduced, to around four to five minutes, compared with 30 minutes to more than an hour previously when Vietnamese citizens had to queue together with international passengers.
In addition to improving the operational efficiency of competent forces at the border gate, the solution also helps facilitate and bring greater comfort to citizens upon entry, thereby enhancing the professional and modern image of the international airport serving as the capital’s gateway.
Continuing to implement coordinated solutions, from 7am on August 3, Noi Bai International Airport officially applied a traffic-flow plan, arranging pick-up and drop-off locations according to each type of vehicle.
Accordingly, franchised traditional taxis will continue to pick up passengers in the lane closest to the terminal to ensure convenience for passengers. Specifically, at Terminal T1 for domestic flights, passengers can take taxis at lane No. 2; at Terminal T2 for international flights, the pick-up location is arranged at lane No. 4.
For ride-hailing vehicles such as Grab and Xanh SM with yellow plates and fewer than nine seats, in order to ensure order and limit local congestion, these vehicles are designated to pick up passengers at separate car parks. At Terminal T1, passengers move to car park P2 in front of Hall E; at Terminal T2, passengers take ride-hailing vehicles at car park P1 or P7.
A representative of Noi Bai International Airport said that although the new plan may require some passengers using ride-hailing services to walk a short additional distance, it is a necessary measure to ensure traffic order and safety, while fundamentally addressing congestion in front of the terminals.
