This is the fourth year Son Tay Town has organised the event to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Son Tay - Xu Doai and Vietnam as a whole. The festival highlights traditional Tet customs, local specialities, and tourism in Duong Lam.
Key activities include a traditional Tet market at Mong Phu Communal House, showcasing local specialties, handicrafts, and village-made products. Visitors can enjoy cultural performances, folk music, ao dai fashion shows, and calligraphy demonstrations.
Hands-on activities including making flute kites, shaping toy figurines, crafting souvenirs, and preparing Tet delicacies such as banh chung (chung cake) and sesame seed candies are also available.
Guests will explore traditional customs, visit ancient houses, and savour Tet dishes like Mia chicken, roasted pork, and sweet mung bean pudding.
The festival features folk games such as cockfighting, blindfolded clay pot breaking, and human chess, alongside performances of hat van (spiritual singing), hat xam (blind wanderers’ music), hat cheo (traditional opera), and drumming.
The ‘Tet lang Viet’ aims to preserve Vietnam’s cultural traditions, promote local tourism, and offer visitors a meaningful Tet experience.
