Amid the heroic atmosphere of these historic May days, as the entire nation turns towards Dien Bien where 72 years ago our army and people achieved the Dien Bien Phu Victory that “resounded across the five continents and shook the globe”, on the evening of May 7, as the night sky over Dien Bien fell into silence, Tran Tien Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, led a delegation of officials, soldiers and people from the ethnic groups of Dien Bien in solemnly offering incense in tribute to the heroic martyrs at the martyrs’ cemeteries in the locality.
Observing a minute of silence in remembrance of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the land of Dien Bien, the Provincial Party Secretary, together with officials and people of Dien Bien, pledged to devote their efforts, wisdom and spirit of solidarity to achieving the goal of “building Dien Bien Phu for development in peacetime and turning Dien Bien into an attractive destination in the region”.
During the night of tribute, youth union members from the ethnic groups of Dien Bien province lit nearly 7,000 candles on the graves of martyrs. Each candle lit was not only a light of remembrance, but also a promise from today’s generation: to live, fight, work, perform duties and study well, continuing to write the heroic epic of the Vietnamese nation; promoting the spirit of Dien Bien Phu of the past and igniting it in peacetime as a command for development.
