The 50th Buenos Aires International Book Fair (Filba) is taking place vibrantly in the Argentine capital, bringing together 37 countries and nearly 500 publishers, offering tens of thousands of titles that reflect the diversity of the global publishing industry.

The fair is being held at the La Rural exhibition centre in Palermo District, covering an area of more than 45,000 sq m, and is organised by the Book Foundation in coordination with the city authorities.

Marking its 50th anniversary, this year’s event has not only expanded in scale but also deepened in content, striking a balance between honouring Argentina’s cultural and historical values and introducing new creative trends in modern publishing. Peru has been selected as the guest of honour.

The fair spans a wide range of genres, from children’s books to political and scientific publications. All 24 provinces and cities of Argentina have their own exhibition spaces. Notably, children’s book areas are vividly and colourfully designed, serving not only as reading spaces but also as interactive environments that inspire imagination and foster a love of reading among younger generations.

Publications on Viet Nam have also made a distinctive impression at the fair. Argentina’s Acercándonos Ediciones has presented Spanish-language editions of the “Selected Writings of Ho Chi Minh” and “Three Decisive Battles” by Cuban journalist Luis Arce, who covered the war in Viet Nam.

These books not only hold historical significance but also contribute to promoting the image of Viet Nam and its people to international audiences, attracting attention from both Argentine readers and foreign visitors.

Fernando Roperto, Director and Editor-in-Chief of Acercándonos Ediciones, said this year marks a particularly significant milestone, while underscoring the publisher’s orientation towards international solidarity and its desire to bring works about nations that have struggled for independence closer to the public. According to him, Viet Nam has always been one of the publisher’s priority focuses.
