The Luong Dinh Cua Award is an annual award of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCMYU) given to young people in rural areas with outstanding achievements in production, business, application of modern science technologies, environmental protection and building new rural lifestyles.
Speaking at the ceremony, First Secretary of the HCMYU Nguyen Anh Tuan said that, more than 2,000 outstanding young people have received the Luong Dinh Cua Award over the past 16 years. He noted that the 57 winners of this year's award have different backgrounds and starting points, but they all have the same things in common, including the will, energy, and aspiration to overcome difficulties as well as the determination to rise up.
They are pioneers in applying science and technology in agricultural production and the founders of agricultural start-up models with high economic value, creating jobs for many young workers, especially disadvantaged youth and ethnic minorities. In addition, their models and products are also innovative, suitable for export standards and are well received by domestic and international markets.
Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh expressed his delight at the appearance of more businesses, farms, and economic cooperation models, owned by young people in the fields of agriculture and rural areas. He hoped that the HCMYU will continue to support business models of rural youth, to help them participate in the value chain from production to consumption.
Of the award-winning models, a business model recorded an annual revenue of 144 billion VND, a model posted an annual revenue of 120 billion VND, seven models reported annual revenues of 10-30 billion VND and 48 models recorded annual revenues of over 1 billion VND.
