Located at No.846 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Kon Tum City, Kon Tum Province, the Kon Tum Community Food Bank Club marks the first of its kind in the Central Highlands region, aiming to jointly provide and distribute food to those in need across the province.
Addressing the gathering, Nguyen Thi Ven, Chairwoman of the Kon Tum Red Cross, expressed, “To assist those in need, even through small acts of kindness to address hunger or deprivation, we hope this project will amplify the noble tradition of millions of charitable hearts in the community, sharing acts of kindness to encourage those facing adversity to rise in life.”
The Food Bank Vietnam Network has currently expanded to include nine communal food stores and community food bank clubs in various locations, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Kien Giang, Ben Tre, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, etc.
By 2024, this network will expand to 20 community food stores and community food bank clubs nationwide. Emphasis will be placed on expansion in regions such as the Central Highlands, Thai Nguyen, mountainous areas, and areas with a significant population of ethnic minorities.
A representative of Food Bank Vietnam stated, “The expansion and spread of Community Food Bank Clubs and communal food stores of the Food Bank nationwide will contribute to supporting those in difficult circumstances in several localities, especially after the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
At the event, various entities also donated 250 gift packages to vulnerable groups, including poor households, ethnic minorities and disabled children within the community, aiming to encourage resilience and uplift spirits in life's hardships.
