Flag salute ceremony at border marker 678

In celebration of the 51st anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, Avuong Commune, Da Nang City, held a flag salute ceremony and presented national flags and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh at Border Marker 678, a site marking the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

From early morning, local leaders, officials, armed forces, village elders, respected community figures, Party cell secretaries and village heads travelled across rugged mountain terrain to reach the marker.

Amid the majestic Truong Son mountain range, the ceremony was conducted solemnly. As the national anthem echoed through the forest, it deepened each participant’s pride and sense of responsibility for safeguarding the border.

Border Marker 678 was installed in 2011, marking a border section more than 2km long. It is not only a geographical marker, but also a sacred symbol of national sovereignty, embodying the solidarity and determination of border troops and residents to defend the Fatherland.

On this occasion, Avuong Commune presented 50 national flags, 50 portraits of President Ho Chi Minh and many meaningful gifts to village elders, respected community figures, Party cell secretaries and village heads. Local leaders also gave gifts and encouragement to the officers and soldiers of Anong Border Guard Station, who remain day and night on the front line, safeguarding every sacred inch of the Fatherland.

Briu Quan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Avuong Commune, said: “Holding the flag salute ceremony at the border marker is intended to raise awareness among officials and local people of national sovereignty. It also helps promote the role of village elders and respected community figures in encouraging residents to take part in protecting the border.”

The flag salute ceremony at Border Marker 678 was not only a practical activity marking the anniversary of national reunification, but also helped nurture patriotism and strengthen the great national unity bloc. From this remote border area, the resolve to defend the Fatherland’s sovereignty continues to be forged and spread strongly among every official, soldier and local resident.
