Flag-raising ceremony and great national flag flying event held to mark Uncle Ho’s birthday

On May 19, at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City), Nghe An Province held a solemn flag-raising ceremony and the flying of the great national flag to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025).

The flag-raising ceremony took place at the sacred space of Ho Chi Minh Square and the Statue of Uncle Ho, featuring the flag salute and incense offering in honour of President Ho Chi Minh in a moving and solemn atmosphere.

In particular, during the ceremony, two hot air balloons carrying the massive 2,025 square metres national flag were flown in the sky above Vinh City, creating a sacred moment that expressed deep respect, pride, and heartfelt gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese nation.

This is the first time Nghe An has held a large-scale, great flag flying event to celebrate Uncle Ho’s birthday.

It is also the first time Nghe An has combined the flying of the great national flag with a flag-raising ceremony on such a scale during President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, demonstrating a special tribute and honour for him.

The event also aimed to promote patriotism and inspire a sense of unity and responsibility among society, especially the younger generation, in the cause of national construction and defence.
