Speaking at the signing ceremony, Éléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, expressed her pleasure at welcoming the first French business delegation specialising in quantum technology to Viet Nam.
The event was organised by Business France, the French national agency responsible for the internationalisation of the French economy, which helps French businesses export and attracts foreign investment to France. It also provided an opportunity to connect a wide range of businesses and partners from the two countries.
Minister Éléonore Caroit stressed that the cooperation agreement between FPT and Quandela represents a concrete step towards implementing the high-level commitments reaffirmed by General Secretary and President To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron during their recent high-level meeting in Paris.
According to Éléonore Caroit, the MoU opens extensive opportunities for cooperation in applied research, access to quantum computing resources, and, in particular, the training of highly skilled human resources. It also clearly reflects the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between France and Viet Nam.
On behalf of FPT, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, the corporation’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Director of AI Transformation, affirmed that France and Viet Nam share both scientific potential and ambitious development goals. Combining Quandela’s capabilities in optical quantum computing with FPT’s deep technical expertise and global research network will help promote research, human resource training, and create practical applications.
He emphasised that the signing was not only a cooperation agreement between two businesses but also a bridge connecting science with industry, and ideas with the shared future of the two countries.
Sharing this vision, Marine Xech-Gaspa, Quandela’s Director of External Relations and Public Policy, said the partnership was significant as it represented the first concrete realisation of the ambitions shared by the two countries.
She expressed hope that this initial step would pave the way for specific cooperation projects in joint research, access to cloud-based quantum computing, and the development of applications in industry and cybersecurity.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by French Ambassador to Viet Nam Didier Le Bret and Professor Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology.
Under the MoU, Quandela will provide FPT with access to its cloud-based quantum computing platform to provide support in testing and development activities in Viet Nam.
The two sides agreed to collaborate on applied research in quantum computing, quantum communications, information security, quantum algorithms, and industrial use cases.
The MoU will also serve as a non-commercial cooperation framework for a period of two years, laying the foundation for training activities, knowledge transfer, expert exchanges, and partnerships with universities and research institutes.
