A financial protocol to this effect was signed by Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh and French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noel Poirier in Hanoi on December 12.
Earlier, France provided EUR250 million for the project.
Along with the Asian Development Bank and the European Investment Bank, France has actively engaged in the project through assistance from its RPE and the French Agency for Development (ADF).
The pilot 12.5km-long urban railway line linking Nhon in Hanoi’s Tu Liem suburban district and Hanoi’s railway station in the inner district of Hoan Kiem, includes a 8.5km elevated section and 4km underground section from Thu Le to Hanoi station.
The underway project also includes 12 stations along the line, designed for a maximum speed of 80km per hour and capable of carrying over 900 passengers per train. It will take passengers about 20 minutes to travel the entire length of the line.
