At the meeting, in a warm atmosphere of friendship, the Governor of Koh Kong Province conveyed her best wishes to the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Ca Mau Province on the occasion of Viet Nam’s traditional Lunar New Year.

Chhi Va affirmed that the visit was not merely a diplomatic formality but a vivid demonstration of the close and comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces across all fields.

She expressed confidence that the fine traditional friendship between the Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples, as well as between Ca Mau and Koh Kong, would continue to be strengthened and elevated to new heights.

In response to the goodwill of the visiting delegation, Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee Lu Quang Ngoi briefed them on the province’s notably positive socio-economic situation over the past year.

In particular, 2025 marked a historic turning point with Ca Mau and Bac Lieu officially merging to form the new Ca Mau Province. This event generated strong synergies, doubling the area’s potential and advantages, and opening a breakthrough development space for the southernmost region of the country.

Sharing specific figures, the Chairman of Ca Mau Province said that under flexible and decisive governance, the provincial economy grew by around 8% in 2025, meeting the targets set by the resolution. Average per capita income exceeded 80 million VND, while export turnover surpassed 2.6 billion USD.

Notably, transport infrastructure recorded a major leap forward with the implementation of a series of key national projects, including the Ca Mau–Dat Mui Expressway, the road linking Dat Mui to Hon Khoai Port, and the expansion project of Ca Mau Airport. These are regarded as crucial drivers for turning Ca Mau into a strong growth pole for the region and the country in the future.

Alongside economic development, Ca Mau Province has also paid special attention to social welfare for ethnic minority communities. To date, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities has fallen to just 2%, while 100% of people living in disadvantaged areas have been provided with free health insurance cards. These policies have created favourable conditions for people to achieve sustainable poverty reduction.

Regarding future cooperation orientations, Lu Quang Ngoi expressed his hope that the two provinces would continue to strengthen linkages in areas of shared strengths such as high-tech agriculture, tourism, and fisheries. Both sides should further enhance delegation exchanges and people-to-people interactions to deepen the good neighbourliness, friendship, and sustainable cooperation between the two localities.
