Under the chosen design, Tu Lien will be a cable-stayed bridge inspired by the capital city’s long history and rich traditional culture, as well as by modern architecture.

The bridge will be nearly five kilometres long, one end intersecting with Nghi Tam Street in Tay Ho District and the other at National Highway 5.

It will connect the suburban district of Dong Anh directly with the city centre

The winning design was created by the Sun Group and engineering firm T.Y. Lin International Vietnam.

Hanoi is expected to eventually have 18 bridges over the Red River, with 8 bridges already in service and 10 in the planning process.

In addition to Tu Lien, other planned bridges are Hong Ha, Me So, new Thang Long, Vinh Tuy (second phase), Thuong Cat, Ngoc Hoi, Tran Hung Dao, Phu Xuyen, and Van Phuc.
