The exhibition introduces 70 paintings, graphic works and sculptures highlighting Hanoi’s vitality in different periods of history.
The works on display revitalise the city’s revolutionary spirit before 1945, as well as memories of the heroic struggles for the liberation of Hanoians, which can be seen through paintings of celebrated painters, namely Tran Dinh Tho, Cong Van Trung and Nguyen Quang Phong.
Images of Hanoi filled with flags and flowers on the liberation day are revived through paintings ‘Hanoi Dem Giai Phong’ (Hanoi’s Liberation Night) by Le Thanh Duc, ‘Pho Hang Duong’ (Hang Duong Street) by Trinh Huu Ngoc and ‘Niem Vui Giai Phong’ (The Joy of Liberation) by Tran Khanh Chuong.
The capital city’s resilience during wartime and its construction efforts are spotlighted through artworks by Tran Binh Loc, Bui Xuan Phai, Phan Van Don and Vu Duy Nghia, among others.
In his opening speech, the museum's Director, Nguyen Anh Minh, said that Hanoi is an endless source of inspiration for generations of artists, adding that the exhibition provides a venue for participating artists to show their love of the capital city.
The exhibition will run until October 22 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.
