Ho Chi Minh City leaders meet with historical witnesses of Ho Chi Minh Campaign

On the morning of April 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee organised a gathering for heroes and senior officials who were historical witnesses of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign 50 years ago.

The meeting was attended by Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

At the gathering, Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, recalled the glorious victory and historical significance of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

During the meeting, city leaders expressed their respect, pride and profound gratitude to previous generations, including witnesses from military units who participated in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

At the gathering, Colonel Tran Van Lam, former Commander of the 64th Regiment of the 3rd Corps, proudly shared unforgettable moments when he and his comrades launched the attack to capture Tan Son Nhat Airport.

“I am truly moved to attend this meeting today. I am delighted to see those comrades again who fought shoulder to shoulder in fierce battles during the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, and I still remember those comrades who sacrificed their lives when we were just hours away from victory.”

Major General Nguyen Ngoc Doanh, former Political Deputy Commander of the 4th Corps, expressed confidence that the younger generation can achieve miraculous feats just as their forefathers did.
