Chua Mountain - the highest peak on Phu Quoc Island
Chua Mountain is part of the Ham Ninh range, located within Bai Thom Commune, Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province. The entire geological formation of Chua Mountain lies deep within the core of the primary forest, within the strictly protected zone of Phu Quoc National Park.
This area is one of the largest biodiversity centres in Viet Nam, with a total area managed and protected by Phu Quoc National Park reaching up to 36,262 hectares.
To reach the summit of Chua Mountain, one must trek through more than 15 kilometres of forest. Along both sides of the forest trail, there is a multi-layered vegetation system.
From the peak of Chua Mountain, Phu Quoc National Park appears like a magnificent, vast natural painting. The forest protection teams are always on duty 24/7, frequently patrolling to promptly detect and prevent any acts of forest damage or encroachment, thereby contributing to the conservation of the park’s diverse ecosystem and natural landscape. From the heights, the forest and the vast sea below seem to merge into one.
The small-clawed otter (a rare and endangered species prioritised for protection) was recently discovered in Phu Quoc National Park. The Indochinese silvered langur, a species threatened with extinction and listed in both the Vietnamese and international Red Books, is under strict protection here.
