You are invited to participate in a rare multidisciplinary workshop and performance opportunity with Canadian composer/improviser Sandro Manzon.
Over the course of 3 sessions and a concert, Sandro will guide the participants through a workshop intensive on ‘conducted improvisation’. Each session will introduce and practice techniques based on an intricate ‘sign-language’ for improvisers in a large ensemble.

Jazz Concert with Timo Vollbrecht & Band

Come to enjoy a show by acclaimed jazz musician Timo Vollbrecht and his band FLY MAGIC. Every song creates a new universe for itself – jazz elements merge with post rock, minimalism, new music and contemporary song culture.
FLY MAGIC consists of Timo Vollbrecht (saxophone), Keisuke Matsuno (guitar), Sebastian Merk (drums) and Matthias Pichler (bass). The band has been playing shows all over the world - in New York’s most famous jazz club, and at festivals in Panama, Haiti, Australia and Europe.
In Hanoi, the second part of the concert will be played together with saxophonist Nguyen Bao Long and the ensemble JumpforJazz.

”Quynh by Night” – Solo Exhibition by Quynh Dong

In this exhibition, Quynh Dong designs a spectacle with layers upon layers of images, which have the ability to challenge the representation of cultural stereotypes and at the same time creates new perceptions in the most unexpected manner.
Interested in and inspired by pop culture, Quynh Dong employs materials available in the tropes of soap operas popular in Asia, the music prevalent in music shows or karaoke establishments, mock decorative miniatures, traditional paintings, common new year calendars, and children toys.
Lomography Exhibition “No to Sorrow” by Maika Elan

Lomography is a style of analog photography, which works with the unpredictable image qualities of cheap cameras, like colour changes and negative effects.
On display will be a range of different photographs, from the areas of portrait, fashion and documentary photography. Maika Elan’s pictures play around with colours, shades, focus and perspective.
They show both the trivial and exceptional scenes from the photographer’s life, and always reflect her optimism and happiness.
Exhibition “Himalaya” by Photographer Nguyen Quynh Anh

Exhibition “Himalaya” displays 25 works by photographer Nguyen Quynh Anh during her trips to the lands surrounding the Himalayas in North India over the past three years.
Nguyen Quynh Anh was born in Hanoi and grew up in Russia. She graduated with an architecture major in Moscow, but has pursued photography and travelling as the greatest passions in her life after her trip to North India in 2012.

Led by Music Director Adrian Tan, highlights of the program include the world premiere of Vietnamese composer Dinh Lang’s Concerto for Dan Tranh “The Endless Fields”, with acclaimed virtuoso Nguyen Hai Phuong; and the orchestral debut of prize-winning young pianist Tran Yen Nhi in Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Rounding up the program is Antonin Dvorak’s ever-popular Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” with which he advocates African-American melodies as American folk songs and the foundation for the “future music of this country”.
