Licensed by the State Bank, MDP will provide intermediary payment services including financial switching, electronic clearing, payment gateways and collection and disbursement support. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Napas to explore interoperability between switching systems, with the aim of developing a modern, secure and synchronised national payments infrastructure.
Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Deputy Governor of the State Bank, said the company was well-positioned to accelerate growth amid Viet Nam’s ongoing digital transformation, supported by MobiFone’s role as a key state-owned telecommunications provider. He highlighted the importance of secure and resilient payment systems as a foundation for economic modernisation.
MobiFone representative Truong Son Lam stressed the firm’s commitment to developing secure, reliable digital financial services integrated with national databases, while supporting fraud prevention and safeguarding payment system security.
At the event, MDP also signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Public Security’s population data research centre to integrate digital payment services into the national e-identification application VNeID. The partnership will enable seamless payments, expanded digital services and improved management of personal financial obligations within a secure environment.
With agreements in place with 22 leading banks and financial institutions, as well as global partner Visa, MDP aims to expand collaboration across fintech and technology sectors, contributing to a more efficient, secure and inclusive digital payments landscape in Viet Nam.
