More than 1.7 million people join voluntary social insurance

More than 18 million Vietnamese people joined social insurance by the end of January 2024, an increase of 4.54% compared to the same period in 2023, including over 1.7 million people participating in voluntary social insurance.

The information was announced at a conference by the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) held on January 31.

According to the VSS, about 1.72 million people joined voluntary social insurance as of January 30, up 20.11% compared to the same period in 2023. The country also saw more than 14.6 million people joining unemployment insurance and 91.8 million people joining health insurance.

VSS General Director Nguyen The Manh said that 2024 is an important year for the insurance sector to promote the completion of targets on social and health insurance according to resolutions of the Party and Government.

He noted that the VSS will continue to propose plans to reduce and simplify administrative procedures to create favourable conditions for individuals, organisations and businesses to participate in insurance schemes.
