The figure was up 4.1% from the same period in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

Of the total, the total number of holidaymakers arriving in Vietnam by air accounted for 83.8%, while those coming by road made up 14.3% and by sea, 1.9%.

In June alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 1.2 million international tourists, a year-on-year rise of 28.1%.

Revenue from accommodation and restaurant services was estimated to increase by 15.2% and travel tourism jumped 37.1% from last year.

The increase was mainly attributed to the country’s favourable visa policy and enhanced tourism promotion programmes from provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide.

The Republic of Korea remained Vietnam's largest tourist market, with 2.28 million arrivals, followed by China and Taiwan (China) with 1.89 million and 630,000 visitors, respectively.

Other major markets such as Japan, the US, Australia, India, and Malaysia also showed significant growth.
