Nghe An approves 4.5 trillion VND-project to develop infrastructure and urban resilience

The Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee has approved the project on ‘Vinh City Priority Infrastructure and Urban Resilience Development’.

The project has a total investment of 4.502 trillion VND, of which 3 trillion VND was funded by the World Bank, and the rest was mobilised by Vinh city’s authorities.

It aims to reduce the risk of flooding in the main urban area and strengthen urban management, to adapt to climate change in Vinh city. It also targets to support the development of integrated infrastructure and enhance the urban resilience of Vinh city, thus contributing to sustainable urban development and adaptation to climate change, creating motivation for comprehensive socio-economic development for Vinh city and Nghe An province in general.

The six-year project has four components, including integrated drainage, environmental sanitation and connectivity investments; expansion of storage capacity to reduce urban flooding; river improvements and upgrades; systems and capacity development to improve urban resilience.
