Vinh city receives Independence Order, Third Class

Nhan Dan – Vinh city, the capital of central Nghe An province, was awarded the Independence Order, Third Class on October 6 in recognition of its development during the past 50 years.

At the ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Xuan Duong of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee asked Vinh city leaders to complete tasks vital to establishing the city’s place as a cultural, financial and economic hub of the north central region. Chief among these tasks are planning for 2030 with a vision to 2050, the mobilisation of resources for socio-economic development, external affairs and land management.

He also expressed his hope that central agencies would continue to their support to Nghe An province and Vinh city.

Previously known as Vinh-Ben Thuy town, Vinh was granted city status on October 10, 1963. It was classified as a grade-one city in 1993, and as a grade-two city in 2008.

Overcoming challenges and difficulties, the Vinh city Municipal Party Committee and the local people have worked proactively and creatively to achieve important results in all areas, turning the city into a modern, dynamic place with great potential.
