The event, jointly held by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications, has attracted the participation of more than 30 domestic publishers and book distribution enterprises, offering a reading space and many attractive book experience programmes.

It is among activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - 2024) and 25th anniversary of UNESCO's designation of Hanoi as a “City for Peace”.

In particular, the book fair continues to receive the response and participation of a number of diplomatic agencies such as the Embassies of Laos, Cambodia, France, Italy, etc, promising diverse cultural exchange activities.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ha Minh Hai said the book fair is expected to offer readers with much joy and rich knowledge resources, serving life, work, study, and research activities.

The ninth Hanoi Book Fair 2024 features many meaningful activities, emphasising the importance of books in social life, reflecting the Vietnamese people’s tradition of valuing education, and promoting the cultural heritage of Thang Long-Hanoi. It also contributes to raising public knowledge and developing the nation’s sustainable human resources. Among the standout activities is the exhibition and display of books under the theme “Hanoi: Capital of Culture and Heroes – City for Peace,” Hai noted.
