The awards are under the framework of THE Asia Universities Summit 2026, held from April 21 to 24, in Hong Kong (China).
This is one of the region’s most prestigious awards in higher education. According to THE, it marked the first time that a Vietnamese higher education institution had won in this category.
THE Awards Asia 2026 attracted more than 500 entries from universities across the region, with more than 80 finalists shortlisted across multiple categories.
Phenikaa University, the Vietnamese institution named winner in the “Leadership and Management Team of the Year” category, has thus seen its leadership and governance capacity recognised at the regional level.
According to the judging panel, Phenikaa University’s standout strength lay in its systematic transformation in governance and development. In recent years, the university has pursued restructuring and renewal in a consistent manner, gradually expanding the development possibilities of a private university in a new context.
Nguyen Ngoc Ninh, Deputy General Director of Phenikaa University, said the award recognised both the university’s transformation process and the guiding role of its leadership team in building a modern governance system geared towards innovation and sustainable development. It would also provide fresh momentum for the university to continue improving the quality of education and research, while making greater contributions to society.
According to Chris Havergal, editor of Times Higher Education, this year’s winners showcased a diverse range of groundbreaking initiatives, reflecting the strong vitality of higher education in Asia.
The result at THE Awards Asia 2026 is not only regional recognition, but also a reflection of Phenikaa University’s long-term commitment to building a modern, internationally integrated and responsible university, where effective governance lays the foundation for knowledge, people and sustainable contributions to society.
