The presentation of the 111 photos aimed to celebrate the 111th birth anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2022).
The photos were taken by Colonel Tran Hong from 1986 to 2018, with many of them holding significant historical value, including the photo ‘Nho Bac’ (Remembering Uncle Ho), which portrays General Giap next to a statue of President Ho Chi Minh.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Director of National Archives Centre No.3 Tran Viet Hoa said that the donated photos are valuable documents not only for the centre but also for educating the younger generation on the life and career of the legendary general.
Born in Ha Tinh Province in 1947, colonel Tran Hong is a retired photojournalist of Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) Newspaper.
During his career, Hong took taken thousands of photos capturing moments of the soldiers on the front lines and the people in the rear. He is the owner of around 2,000 photos on General Vo Nguyen Giap.
