Prime Minister praises Vietnamese national men’s football team for ASEAN Cup 2024 trophy

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has sent congratulations to the Vietnamese national men’s football team for winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup trophy after a 3-2 dramatic win against Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok) on January 5.

In his congratulation letter, the Government leader expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the coaching staff and players for their impressive performances in both legs of the final.

He applauded the team’s extraordinary effort, courage, and unity, stressing that this victory is not pride of Vietnamese sports but also a source of inspiration for the entire nation to rise and conquer new heights.

He also extended special thanks to millions of fans nationwide who have always stood side by side and served as a solid support for the national football team throughout its journey to conquer the highest position in regional football.

The championship title is a symbol of progress in Vietnamese football and a meaningful gift to the nation at the start of the New Year, he wrote.

The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes and encouragement to injured striker Nguyen Xuan Son, who suffered a severe injury in the final match.

He expressed his belief that with Son’s strong will, he will overcome this challenge and return even stronger, continuing to contribute to Vietnam’s football and achieving greater success in the future.
