“Proud of Viet Nam's Legacy” is a publication of special significance, vividly and comprehensively reflecting the country’s major achievements of historic stature across economic, cultural and social spheres, as well as the building of the Party and the political system, over the 80 years since the founding of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. In particular, it highlights the major achievements of historic significance recorded over 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal).
The book is structured into three parts.
The first part, Viet Nam – The Era of Independence, National Reunification and Socialist Construction, highlights major milestones in the history of the Vietnamese revolution during the 1930–1975 period, affirming that the birth and leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam were the decisive factors behind all victories of the Vietnamese revolution.
The second part, Viet Nam – The Era of Renewal, Integration and Development, reflects the country’s major achievements of historic significance over 40 years of renewal across all fields.
The third part, Viet Nam – Aspiration for Prosperity and Strength, underscores that the achievements of epochal significance in the era of independence and freedom, together with the major achievements of historic significance recorded during the era of renewal and development, have created a solid foundation for Viet Nam to enter a new era — the era of the nation’s rise.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Su That National Political Publishing House, said that with nearly 600 large-format pages, a dignified presentation, a bilingual Vietnamese–English edition, and more than 200 carefully selected valuable archival photographs, the book recreates Viet Nam’s 80-year development journey — from the moment President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam and ushering in an era of independence, freedom and people’s mastery, to the country’s current path of construction, development and deep international integration.
Vu Trong Lam stressed that immediately after the 14th National Party Congress, Party General Secretary To Lam published an important article entitled “Forward! Total victory will be ours!”. This was a call to the entire Party, people and armed forces to turn determination into action and enforce discipline in implementation in order to develop the country rapidly, sustainably and powerfully, and realise the goal of a prosperous people, a strong country, democracy, equity and civilisation.
Contributing to the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the Su That National Political Publishing House has released “Proud of Viet Nam's Legacy” to present readers with a comprehensive and vivid panorama of a strong and developing Viet Nam, showcasing major achievements of historic significance over 80 years since national founding, especially those recorded over 40 years of renewal. The book comprises 17 articles covering comprehensively the fields of the economy, culture, society, the building of the Party and the political system.
