The school is one of the important components of the Astrophysics project at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Education (IFIRSE), aimed at enhancing research capabilities for students in the field of astrophysics, particularly experts at the Quy Nhon Observatory.
The objective of the programme is to demonstrate that astronomy is not only an interesting topic but also crucial for the development of both science and technology in addressing common questions regarding its relevance.
It aims to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience, equipping them with practical skills and knowledge to pursue their passion for astronomy and astrophysics.
The summer school is an opportunity for participants to receive lectures introducing various aspects of observational astronomy.
Throughout the programme, students will learn about astronomy and astrophysics while conducting observational projects that focus on fundamental scientific and experimental questions.
They will learn how to operate telescopes, design and test scientific instruments, as well as engage in observations like professional astronomers.
Students will experience the entire process of observation, capture celestial images, and learn how to analyse and interpret data.
The programme runs until July 28, with the participation of 47 students and instructors from 6 countries around the world.
